5-month-old Infant Slapped and Slammed on Floor by Mother in Washington; Arrested after Grandmother Came to Rescue Unresponsive Baby

Spokane, WA-

Amlyann Harry, 22, is facing charges of first-degree assault of a child after it is said that on Sunday night, she flung, smacked, and shook her five-month-old son onto the ground.

Her son is fighting for his life in the NICU at Sacred Heart, and Harry is being held in the Spokane County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond. The baby’s brain bleed from his mother’s alleged assault is not anticipated to heal, the prosecution stated in court on Monday.

Additionally, a Domestic Violence No Contact Order between Harry and her son was issued by the judge at Monday’s court session.

Harry told Spokane Valley Police that her infant had been wailing uncontrollably, so she “shook her baby and then slapped her baby three times with an open hand on his face,” according to court filings.

Subsequently, Harry acknowledged that she had thrown her infant “roughly three feet to the ground,” where it landed on its back, lost consciousness, and stopped breathing.

At this point, the horrifying circumstance welcomed Harry’s mother and the infant’s grandma home. Court records state that Harry stated she thought the baby was dead, but her mother called 911 and attempted CPR on her behalf.

The defendant admitted to authorities that this was not the first time she had harmed her child when paramedics came and took over CPR. Harry claimed that she had never felt love for her child and that she felt, quote, “dead inside, ” as per a local news outlet.
