A Hays father has been taken into custody following the discovery that his infant son had methamphetamine in his system, according to officials. A man named Abraham Duran Leon has been taken into custody by the Hays Police Department.
He is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder in relation to the tragic death of his 5-month-old son, Fernando Leon III.
Police in Hays quickly responded to an urgent call at the Rodeway Inn on April 2, where they were alerted to a distressing situation involving a child who was not breathing.

The incident occurred where Ellis County EMS administered life-saving measures to a young boy. He was then transported to Hays Medical Center, but unfortunately, he passed away later, as stated in a news release by the Hays police as stated by KansasNews.
The boy’s father was in the motel room when authorities arrived in response to the call. An investigation was conducted into the death of the infant. The autopsy revealed the presence of methamphetamine in his system, leading to his unfortunate demise due to complications arising from methamphetamine intoxication, as stated by the police.
