28-Year-Old Charged with Murdering Father Days After High-Speed Police Chase

A man released on bail in Harrison County is charged with fatally stabbing his father in Pittsburgh on Monday.

A 28-year-old man, Christopher Hudak, faces accusations of murdering his 63-year-old father, James Hudak, at their residence in Pittsburgh’s Overbrook area, according to police reports.

On September 19th, Christopher faced charges for reckless fleeing in Harrison County, following a police chase that spanned over 100 miles on I-79.

A pursuit started close to the Meadowbrook Mall exit and concluded on I-79 in Kanawha County, where stop sticks were used at mile marker 13. Court documents reveal that Christopher reached speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour and repeatedly “brake checked” the police.

Christopher has been released after posting bail following the incident. The timing of Christopher’s return to Pittsburgh remains uncertain.

Authorities responded to a residence on Lucina Avenue in Pittsburgh around 3 p.m. on Monday, discovering James with stab wounds to his chest. Authorities confirmed he was declared deceased at the location.

Christopher, present at the location, was transported to the hospital for treatment of a hand injury prior to being questioned.

Court documents reveal that Christopher informed a responding officer, “I had to defend myself.”

Upon searching the residence, officers discovered the place was “in complete disarray,” featuring overturned tables, a broken television, and belongings scattered throughout the room.

Authorities reported that Christopher fatally stabbed his father, claiming his parents were not providing him with food. Christopher reached out to his grandmother to express that he was not being fed by his parents and was feeling hungry. Shortly after, James spoke with her and claimed that Christopher was not telling the truth and had just eaten, according to court documents. According to the grandmother’s statement to the police, that’s when “the phone went dead.”

The grandmother informed authorities that her grandson might have been experiencing a mental crisis.

Christopher is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail on several charges, including criminal homicide.
