A woman is now facing serious charges following an unfortunate incident in Warren, where a 2-year-old boy accidentally shot himself with a handgun while under her care.
April Green, aged 42, is facing charges related to a violation of firearm safe storage, which resulted in a serious injury. Additionally, she is charged with second-degree child abuse and two counts of felony firearm. She was arraigned and given a $75,000 cash/surety bond.
She has been instructed to refrain from owning a firearm and interacting with individuals under the age of 17.
According to authorities, Green, a licensed CPL holder, was found in possession of two handguns at the residence on Saturday in the 11000 block of Edgemont Street.
It is believed by investigators that she did not properly secure the handguns in an area that was easily accessible to the child. The boy then inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his stomach.
According to authorities, the child displayed signs of being alert and responsive.
