17-year-old found Naked and Dead in a Ditch; Teen Murderer Arrested in Texas

San Antonio, TX: One boy from Texas was caught in the killing of Kaitlin Hernandez, 17, in her San Antonio neighbourhood.

Hernandez took a walk in her neighbourhood with a man on March 12. She wasn’t coming home that night, so her family called the police for her absence. Fox News says that hours later, her naked, lifeless body was found in a ditch by police.

A statement from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) said, “Investigators were able to make an arrest after DNA from the victim matched the person who was last seen with the victim.”

SAPD also said that when the missing teen’s family called, “an unknown man answered the phone and said he found the phone in a drainage ditch.” At a convenience shop, the man returned the phone to a family member of the victim. The man let the police do their job.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office says that after the phone was found, police searched the area and found Hernandez’s body. There were signs of strangulation and possible sexual abuse. SAPD said it looked like the victim had been dragged to where she was found.

It wasn’t enough proof to press charges against her male friend who went on the walk with her that night, even though officials talked to him. But as the investigation went on, police came to the conclusion that “the male friend was the suspect in this case.”

DNA samples were taken from both the victim and the man, and these were then sent to the Bexar County Crime Lab. The results showed a link between the male person and the victim.

In the past, Rodriguez said that her niece was a “loving” and “kind” girl who had “a lot of dreams.” Hernandez was supposed to finish high school this spring.

“Kaitlin didn’t hate anyone,” Rodriguez said in March. Nobody we know of disliked Kaitlin. She was baptised not long ago. God was becoming more important to her. She had a church engagement. Pets were important to her. She planned to become a vet after she finished.
