Authorities and loved ones are seeking assistance in locating a newborn baby and her young mother, who went missing in the East Los Angeles area on Sunday. The baby has a heart condition, adding urgency to the search.
Amoria Brown, a fourteen-year-old girl, and her three-week-old daughter Omoria were last seen on Sunday evening in the 5200 block of East Huntington Drive. According to a news release from the LAPD, the missing girl was reportedly traveling to the high Desert North of Los Angeles with her family. The release also included photos of the girl.
“It’s just a lot right now; trying to take it all in, trying to process it,” said Raquel Brown, Amoria’s guardian. “I just want the baby to be OK. She’s not a bad mom. I’m not going to say that she’s bad. She’s young. I can’t just expect her to change overnight, so I do want to make that clear, but I’m here to help.”
As per Raquel, the young girl reached out to her family to assure them of her and the baby’s safety. Her current location is still a mystery, but her family suspects she may be making her way towards the High Desert.
When the police first announced the disappearance, they mentioned a 15-year-old girl who was described as Brown’s sister-in-law. Her family reports that she has since been reunited with her relatives.
