Youngsville Resident Serving Time for Child Sexual Assault Conviction Faces New Charges

A former resident of Youngsville, who is currently serving time in state prison for a child sexual assault conviction in 2015, is now facing new charges of a similar nature.

A man named Jonathan G. Upton, aged 43, has been charged by the Youngsville Borough police for alleged conduct that took place between January 2010 and December 2011 in Youngsville.

In March, the victim and her mother reached out to the police to report an alleged assault. The incident is said to have occurred when the victim was between the ages of four and six at Upton’s residence on East Main Street in Youngsville. This information is based on an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case.

During an interview, the victim described the mental and physical abuse inflicted by Upton.

The affidavit alleges that she was forced to climb inside the washing machine, with the lid closed, while Upton threatened to turn it on if she tried to escape.

According to reports, Upton is accused of subjecting her and her younger brother to confinement in dog crates, and even making her walk with animal traps attached to her feet.

The affidavit alleges that the victim was instructed by someone to place a leather belt around her younger brother’s neck while he was sleeping and choke him. She declined to do it.

Additionally, she informed authorities that Upton would reportedly force her to consume hot dogs, causing her to vomit, and then compel her to eat the vomit.

The victim detailed multiple instances of sexual assault, involving Upton assaulting both her and her brother. The assaults included forced oral sex and the viewing of pornography.

According to the affidavit, Upton allegedly made severe threats towards the victim, including threats to harm her and her brother if she disclosed the abuse. These threats involved the use of martial arts swords and even included a disturbing statement about making her mother witness the ordeal.

Upton has been charged by the police with multiple offenses in relation to these allegations. The charges include statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, and terroristic threats.

According to online court records, Upton is currently being held at the state correctional institution in Albion for charges similar to those from a 2015 conviction. The sentence for these charges ranges from 120 months to 240 months.

He is classified as a sexually violent predator, resulting in him being subject to lifetime registration requirements under Megan’s Law as reported by the Times Observer.

There will be a preliminary hearing scheduled for next week regarding these new charges.
