Wrong-Way Driver on U.S. 60 Stopped after nearly 20 Miles in East Valley

In the East Valley, during the night, state troopers pulled over a woman who had been traveling the wrong way on the United States Highway 60 for about twenty miles.

At approximately 1:30 in the morning, the driver who was traveling in the wrong direction was reported to the Arizona Department of Public Safety on the United States Highway 60 near Signal Butte Road to begin the incident. In the eastbound lanes, the driver was traveling in the westbound direction.

In the vicinity of Rural Road, which is approximately 20 miles distant from Signal Butte, DPS troopers were able to bring the car to a stop after they pursued it on the United States Highway 60. Troopers were seen detaining the woman who was driving, as captured by cameras on the freeway.

The DPS did not disclose any information regarding the manner in which the stop was made. Investigations are being conducted to determine whether or not the woman, who was described as a 28-year-old resident of Queen Creek, is impaired.

Thankfully, this incident did not result in any significant injuries to any individuals.

There has been no dissemination of any more information. Whether or not the woman will be charged is not yet known.
