Investigators from the New York Police Department are looking into a frightening video that has gone viral and purports to show a sexual assault that took place in the Bronx earlier this month.
It was approximately five in the morning on May 1st, according to the police.
The perpetrator, who is wearing a white towel or shirt to conceal his face, approaches the victim from behind, pulls out a belt, and wraps it around the woman’s neck. The victim is a 45-year-old woman who is seen walking on the sidewalk at the intersection of East 152nd Street and Third Avenue.
After pulling the woman to the ground and holding her until she loses consciousness, the man then drags her between two automobiles and drags her between them. According to the police, the offender then allegedly sexually abused the victim.
At the time of transport, the victim was in stable condition at New York City Health and Hospitals/Lincoln.
According to the description, the suspect is a male with a medium complexion, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, and wearing a black hoodie with white lettering that reads “GAP,” white trousers, and black-red-white sneakers.
The most recent numbers from the New York Police Department indicate that there has been a 5.1% increase in the number of rapes that have occurred this year. At the time of the fifth of May, there had been a total of 511 rapes registered in the city.
