A woman from Conway is facing legal issues after reportedly assaulting a minor who was at her grandmother’s home.
Daveanna Michelle Huggins, 35, faces charges related to child cruelty.
On September 9 at 2:25 p.m., police in Conway arrived at a residence on Ducket Street following a report of child abuse.
The victim informed officers that she and a friend visited her grandmother’s house, where Huggins resides as well.
The police report states that the victim’s grandmother left with her boyfriend, and Huggins was “drinking heavily and began yelling” at the victim’s friend.
When the victim approached Huggins about her actions, Huggins allegedly responded by saying, “not to tell her what to do because she is grown” The victim then replied, “she wasn’t acting grown,” according to the report.
The report indicates that Huggins proceeded to choke the victim, leading her to lose consciousness, before forcefully slamming her onto the floor and striking her face twice. Huggins allegedly struck the victim’s head against the washing machine three times and assaulted her face with scratches and punches.
Upon the return of the victim’s grandmother, Huggins reportedly attempted to engage her in a confrontation.
