Thirty-Year-Old Dog Walker Who Disappeared on Christmas Eve Discovered Deceased in Icy Lake.

A woman from Massachusetts, who disappeared while taking her dog for a walk on Christmas Eve, has tragically been discovered deceased in a frozen lake, according to officials.

On Christmas Day, the remains of 30-year-old Owen Kasozi were found in Wenham Lake at the J.C. Philips Nature Preserve in Beverly, as reported by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities reported that she was last spotted entering the nature park with her dog around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

According to the statement, it is believed that Kasozi plunged into the icy waters of Wenham Lake and “was unable to extricate herself.”

Authorities do not suspect any wrongdoing, and the medical examiner will establish the official cause of death.

The statement noted that her dog was discovered safe on Christmas Eve in the nearby town of Topsfield.

Beverly Police Chief John G. LeLacheur expressed heartfelt condolences to Owen Kasozi’s family in a statement on behalf of the Beverly Police Department.

“On behalf of the Beverly Police Department, I would like to pass along our sincere condolences to the family of Owen Kasozi,” Beverly Police Chief John G. LeLacheur said in a statement.

“I would also like to thank all the first responders for being able to give the family some degree of closure in the wake of this difficult search process,” LeLacheur said.

Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker expressed disappointment, stating, “this is not the search outcome that anyone was hoping for.” We commend the dedication of our law enforcement partners who tirelessly worked during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to find Owen Kasozi.

Tucker expressed, “Our thoughts are with her family as they begin to cope with this painful loss.”
