OBETZ, Ohio – A lady is facing charges after reportedly concealing a man wanted for shooting two police officers earlier this week.
According to court records, Jayla Call, 31, was detained on Saturday and charged with felony obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. She is being held at Franklin County Jail.
Daveonte Dixon, 21, has been on the run for roughly two days after allegedly shooting two Mifflin Township police officers Wednesday evening. Dixon was detained Friday by the US Marshals Service and Franklin County SWAT police at an apartment complex in Obetz’s 4300 block of Thelma Drive.
According to court records, after Dixon’s arrest, Call approached law enforcement and was arrested; during an interview, Call allegedly admitted to knowing Dixon was a fugitive while he was inside her apartment, and she allegedly deleted text messages between Dixon and his girlfriend from her phone.
Dixon was transferred to a local hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound; his current status is unknown.
Dixon was charged with attempted murder and felonious assault. His next court date is not shown in the online court records.
Call is set to appear in Franklin County Common Pleas Court on Monday.
