‘Gleipnir‘ began as one of the season’s strangest anime. Its characters were unlikable, its premise seemed uninteresting, and its visuals were not for the faint of heart. However, as the season progressed, the horror anime managed to amass a sizable fan base with its depiction of the morbid yet intriguing adventures of two out-of-the-ordinary high school students. Because the show’s first season is still ongoing, fans must be wondering if it will ever return with a new season. So, here’s everything you need to know about the second season of ‘Gleipnir.
Gleipnir Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Gleipnir’ season 1 premiered on April 5, 2020, and concluded on June 28, 2020, with a total of 13 episodes. The first season of the anime ends on an inconclusive note, even introducing new characters in the final moments. This suggests that the show’s creators are planning another season. Pine Jam Studio, which produced the first season of ‘Gleipnir,’ has previously produced popular anime such as ‘Gamers.’ However, none of the studio’s previous anime have been renewed for a second season. Nonetheless, given that ‘Gleipnir’ is now easily one of the studio’s most well-received anime, it’s possible that the studio will make an exception for this one.
As you may know, ‘Gleipnir’ is an adaptation of Sun Takeda’s manga series of the same name, which he wrote and illustrated. The manga has 8 published volumes as of 2020 and has been in print since 2015. The first season of the anime adapts six of these eight volumes, leaving only two volumes worth of content for the second season. So, for the time being, it appears unlikely that ‘Gleipnir‘ will be renewed anytime soon due to a lack of source material content. Despite being one of the most popular anime this season, it is unlikely to be renewed until its mangaka releases at least three more volumes. Assuming that these three new volumes will be available by the end of 2021, we can expect Gleipnir Season 2 to release sometime in 2022.
Gleipnir English Dub
Funimation has the original Japanese audio and English subtitles for ‘Gleipnir.’
Gleipnir Season 2 Plot: What can it be about?
Season 2 will begin with Shuichi, Claire, and Tadanori Sabe setting out to the crash site of the alien ship that caused all of this chaos on their planet, based on how the first season ends and the story that lies ahead in the next two volumes of the manga.

However, getting there will not be easy. They’ll meet two guardians along the way, one of whom will be a sword-wielding warrior and the other a strange girl with mysterious reptile abilities. While this battle will be extremely difficult, they will later come across Kaito, who has the ability to bring the dead back to life. As a result, defeating Kaito’s army of the dead will be difficult.
Gleipnir season two review
Season two of Gleipnir picks up right where the first season left off, leaving viewers with no time to catch their breath. Season one laid the groundwork for Gleipnir season two. It was action-packed, with many moving parts, but it still has lulls between main story arcs. Gleipnir season two, on the other hand, completely eliminates any gaps that may have existed in the first season.
The stakes are higher than ever, with Gleipnir season two raising more questions than answers about the metal Gleipnir, which can be used to create chains with infinite energy.

Gleipnir season one concludes with Einar leading his Resistance fighters in an attack against key players under Nordic rule, prompting the request for Gleipnir season two. The mission to assassinate key players in the Nordic occupation will force the government to withdraw from Great Britain, giving Churchill’s Resistance an advantage over their oppressors if they succeed—a big if given the enemy’s experience and lethality.
Gleipnir season one review
Gleipnir’s first season depicted the Nordic occupation of Great Britain through the eyes of Einar, a former member of Churchill’s Resistance. In the first season, we follow our protagonist as he is released from prison and forced into exile to protect his family, who is being held hostage by the enemy.
We find him working as a fisherman on an uninhabited island off the coast of Scotland. Representatives of Churchill’s Resistance approach Einar, requesting his assistance in righting the wrongs committed under Nordic rule and, in turn, bringing down their oppressors. Einar agrees, and with his new team in place, they continue on their mission to save the United Kingdom.
Central Conflict for Season 2
Season 2’s central conflict revolved around Glencoe, a Scottish town where Einar led members of the Resistance to assassinate key figures in charge of the Nordic occupation. The execution of these missions will force the government to withdraw from Great Britain, giving Churchill’s Resistance an advantage over their oppressors if they succeed—a big if given the enemy’s experience and lethality.
Plot of season 2
The stakes are high for Gleipnir season two, both literally and metaphorically, with political tensions running high as a result of failed assassination attempts on key players under Nordic rule. Now that they are at odds, Churchill’s Resistance must fight not only the mighty military superpower, but also their own people. When Lord Elmore appears to be betrayed by his own people, he is forced to question everything he thought he knew about his countrymen.
Einar and his team are racing against the clock to figure out who has been leaking information and whether it was a traitor within the Resistance. or if their adversaries have gained access to a previously closed group. Given the Resistance’s failure during the Glencoe mission, the latter seems most likely.
On top of that, viewers are left wondering about the nature of the metal Gleipnir, which is used to create chains with limitless energy. Is there anything more to these metal chains than what meets the eye? With a new cast member joining Gleipnir in season two, viewers will want to know the answer sooner rather than later.
