Virginia Boy Allegedly Bound and Starved Before Death; Three Charged with Murder

Honk News (Manassas, VA) – A tragic incident has occurred in Manassas, where a 4-year-old boy lost his life, leading to the arrest and felony murder charges against three of his family members. Authorities in Prince William County report that the boy and his 5-year-old sister endured prolonged child abuse and neglect at the hands of their family members, who were responsible for their care.

Authorities responded to a call at the Regency Apartments located in the 9800 block of Shallow Creek Loop at approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 19 regarding an unconscious child. Authorities uncovered that emergency responders were summoned when the 4-year-old boy was discovered unresponsive.

Emergency personnel performed CPR on the boy and transported him to a local hospital, where he unfortunately passed away.

Throughout the investigation, detectives discovered that the boy and his sister were frequently restrained with plastic wrap and packing tape. The autopsy revealed that the boy was in a state of severe malnutrition and dehydration.

It was discovered that both children had consistently been denied adequate food and water. On Wednesday, authorities took into custody 53-year-old Rebecca Ann Romero, along with 22-year-old Shanyah Elizabeth Dilda and 18-year-old Kemmilyn Anita Wade.

Romero and Dilda face serious charges of aggravated murder. According to police, all three family members are charged with serious offenses, including murder, child abuse, and neglect. All individuals are currently detained without the option for bond.

The young sister, just five years old, along with her two older siblings, aged 12 and 14, have been placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
