RESTON, Va. – A 27-year-old Virginia man accused of multiple assaults is back behind bars after allegedly attacking another woman just days after being released on bond, according to Fairfax County Police.
Initial Assault on W&OD Trail
Authorities say Koby Berry was first arrested following an incident on the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail in Reston, where he allegedly attacked Mary Anne Flood as she rode her bicycle last month.
Flood told investigators she was biking along the trail when a man walking toward her refused to move. As she veered off to avoid a collision, Berry allegedly chest-bumped her, knocking her off her bike.
“He hit me with his chest and knocked me off my bike,” Flood said. “My glasses broke, and I ended up in the ER.”
Flood suffered minor injuries and later called police to report the assault.
Pattern of Escalating Behavior
According to Fairfax County Police, just two days after that attack, Berry allegedly entered a hotel room in Reston and exposed himself to a woman. About a week later, a man matching his description stole a woman’s phone along the same trail.
Berry was soon arrested and released on bond, as the case had not yet reached the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for review.
Flood expressed concern about his release, telling reporters she feared Berry’s behavior was becoming increasingly dangerous.
“He got a little more violent, a little more predatory,” she said. “That bothers me quite a bit.”
New Assault After Release
Just two days after his release, police say Berry attacked another woman inside a store at a Reston shopping center. Officers tracked him down and arrested him again, this time charging him with multiple counts of assault.
Berry is now being held without bond at the Fairfax County Jail.
Police Urge Vigilance
Fairfax County Police emphasized that the case highlights the importance of reporting suspicious or aggressive behavior immediately, especially in public areas like trails and shopping centers.
Authorities continue to investigate whether Berry may be connected to other unsolved assaults in the region.
