A vicious armed robbery gang that terrorised convenience store clerks in Los Angeles late last week has been apprehended, authorities said.
The crime spree began around 1 a.m. on April 18 and lasted until 11 p.m., when officers from the Alhambra Police Department began pursuing the four-person robbery crew in a stolen blue Hyundai that was intercepted by the Los Angeles Police Department as it entered the downtown area, according to officials in a news release.
Three suspects were apprehended: 21-year-old Jacuri Tobias and two minor boys, ages 15 and 17.
A fourth suspect remains at large, as does the blue steel handgun with an extended magazine used in each of the five robberies, which mostly targeted 7-Eleven outlets.
LAPD police released video evidence of the thefts, which showed the group pulling up to the establishments in the stolen Hyundai. Three suspects would enter the store, one armed with a revolver and demanding cash from the register, while the others kept watch, and the driver remained behind the wheel of the automobile.
In one incident, a suspect was observed jumping over the counter while holding a gun, while the cashier, who appeared afraid, held his hands up.
Investigators stated five 7-Eleven locations were robbed: three in Los Angeles, one in Pasadena, and one in Baldwin Park.
Authorities said there may have been further armed robberies that were unreported, and they want anyone who was a victim of the group to contact investigators.
