Honk News (Salt Lake City, UT) – According to police documents, a man who worked at a Salt Lake school was arrested on suspicion of spreading child sex abuse material (CSAM).
Erik Phillip Roan, 31, was charged with four charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, each classed as a second-degree felony. Roan was arrested on March 12 and sent to the Salt Lake County Jail.
“Erik works for a School in the Salt Lake County area and has access and is around young children,” according to arrest paperwork.
After conducting a search warrant, officials discovered multiple files on Roan’s phone that were transmitted from a social media account that was first detected in 2024. On March 12, authorities responded to a Salt Lake County residence and spoke with Roan.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Salt Lake County, police were first alerted to suspicious activity on an account in June 2024, when a social media firm submitted a CyberTipline report.

The report was submitted with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and it discussed an account that allegedly uploaded and distributed CSAM.
“Pursuant to several search warrants and court orders, the user of the social media account was reported as residing in the Salt Lake County area,” according to the paperwork. “The suspected files reported to NCMEC were confirmed by ICAC investigators.”
Officials discovered the social media program on Roan’s phone, along with four CSAM files in his account.
An investigator with the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force urged that no bail be set for Roan. There is no additional information at this time.
