On Monday morning, a two-vehicle collision on Krome Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade resulted in injuries to four individuals, including two toddlers who were thrown from a vehicle, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Officials reported that the collision took place when a Mercedes Benz SUV, moving east on Southwest 256th Street, did not yield the right of way and entered the path of a Toyota sedan traveling south on Krome Avenue. Investigators reported that the Toyota’s front struck the right side of the Mercedes.
Authorities have confirmed that two young children in the Toyota were thrown from the vehicle during the collision, ending up on the road. He reported that they were transported by air to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in a critical state.
Camacho reported that both drivers were transported to the hospital with significant injuries.
A news team was present at the location while officers searched the vicinity and managed the flow of vehicles. A tow truck was preparing to transport the Mercedes, which showed noticeable damage to its front end and windshield.
Krome Avenue experienced a closure lasting around two hours while officials carried out an initial investigation; it has now been reopened, according to investigators.
