CERESCO, Neb. – A tragic crash on Highway 77 claimed the lives of two people Sunday afternoon, according to the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office.
Deadly Afternoon Collision
Authorities say the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. near Ceresco. Deputies and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a pickup truck and a motorcycle involved in the wreck.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) cameras showed both vehicles being towed away later in the afternoon as the investigation continued.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and officials are still working to reconstruct the events leading up to the deadly collision.
Road Closure and Response
The crash forced Highway 77 to close for several hours while crews investigated and cleared debris. According to Nebraska 511, all lanes were reopened just before 4 p.m. Sunday after the scene was cleared.
Local authorities, along with NDOT, assisted in managing traffic during the closure.
Investigation Ongoing
The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the identities of the two victims pending family notification. Investigators are examining potential factors such as speed, visibility, and road conditions to determine what led to the crash.
