HOUSTON, Texas — A high-speed crash on the Northwest Freeway frontage road left two people dead Sunday afternoon after their vehicle burst into flames, according to Houston police.
Crash Details
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. near Hewitt Drive, when investigators say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed along the frontage road.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a barricade at the entrance ramp before erupting into flames.
Emergency crews responded quickly but were unable to save the driver and passenger, who both died at the scene.
Investigation Ongoing
The identities of the victims have not yet been released as officials work to notify their families. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash and whether speed or other factors may have contributed.
Authorities temporarily closed portions of the frontage road during the response and cleanup operations.
