A 21-year-old homeless man was apprehended on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting two girls in separate incidents in Long Beach.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of Carson Street and Atlantic Avenue around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday in response to a report of a girl being sexually assaulted.
Police report that a young girl was approached by an unidentified man while she was on a bus. According to the police, the girl and the man got off the bus together. Following a short conversation, the suspect proceeded to sexually assault the victim.
Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, it is reported that an individual approached a young girl on a bus near Artesia Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue. According to the police, he allegedly followed the girl off the bus and committed a sexual assault.
The suspect was described by investigators as a man who is 5-foot-8 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. In addition, he has a few modest tattoos on his forearms.

Police have identified the suspect as George Marquez and have arrested him on charges including attempted rape, penetration with a foreign object, and other related offenses. Additionally, Marquez had two outstanding warrants for terrorizing a victim and inflicting fear and battery. Marquez was in custody with a bail amount of $242,000.
