An educator from McLennan County has been taken into custody for allegedly trying to manipulate a student with the intention of starting a sexual relationship, according to an arrest affidavit.
Todd Wyatt Bogan, 57, who previously taught at Vanguard College Preparatory School, faces charges for allegedly trying to engage in an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to the document.
In a forensic interview, the victim reported to authorities that Bogan expressed intentions aimed at starting a sexual relationship with her. Authorities spoke with Bogan, who confessed to having made “statements of an inappropriate sexual nature to the child in hopes for a sexual relationship,” according to the document.
KWTX has acquired an email directed to parents from Bill Borg, recognized on the school’s website as the head of school and athletics staff.
“Many of you know by now that former Vanguard teacher Wyatt Bogan was arrested yesterday for the attempted improper relationship between an educator and student,” Borg’s email states, “When the allegation of improper conduct were reported, the administration immediately suspended Mr. Bogan while they performed an investigation and simultaneously reported the allegations to the Waco Police Department.”
“Shortly after, and before the school was ever informed that the police investigation would result in formal charges, the school separated employment with Mr. Bogan.”
“We have every confidence the school that the school acted appropriately and timely during this process and has fully cooperated with Waco PD,” Borg’s email further states, “School safety, security, and confidentiality are always important in dealing with situations.”
Bogan is presently incarcerated at McLennan County Jail. The amount for his bail has been established at $20,000.
