Texas SNAP Benefits: February Distribution Schedule and Eligibility Details

Thousands of Texans are currently receiving their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, also known as food stamps, as the state continues its distribution process through February 28. The benefits are deposited directly onto the Lone Star Card, which functions similarly to a debit card and is used for purchasing eligible food items.

How to Apply for SNAP Benefits in Texas

For those in need of food assistance, applying for a Lone Star Card is straightforward. The quickest method is to apply online, but individuals can also visit their local SNAP office or call the Texas SNAP hotline at 1-877-541-7905. Additionally, food banks across Texas offer assistance in completing the application process.

Once approved, recipients can use their Lone Star Card to buy groceries, snacks, and even seeds to grow produce. However, certain items, such as alcohol, tobacco, hot meals, and pet food, are not covered under SNAP benefits.
