Honk News (San Angelo, TX) – A teacher from San Angelo ISD has been arrested, and a school resource officer is now on administrative leave following an investigation into what is described as a “perceived improper relationship between a student and staff” at Lake View High School, as reported by the San Angelo Police Department.
The SAPD has released a public statement revealing that they were “contacted by a non-involved 3rd party” on March 13 concerning an incident that took place at Lake View High School. The SAPD’s Crimes Against Children Unit is looking into an incident that reportedly involves an inappropriate relationship between a student and a staff member.
Authorities reported that Abraham Gonzales, a 24-year-old teacher from SAISD, surrendered to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office on the morning of March 19 following the issuance of a warrant for an alleged improper relationship with a student, classified as a second-degree felony.
During its investigation, the agency reported allegations that a School Resource Officer had participated in inappropriate communications with the same victim. The SAPD announced that the officer has been “immediately placed on administrative leave to facilitate an internal investigation.”

“For the sake of transparency, the San Angelo Police Department shared all information received during the criminal investigation with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, who will be reviewing the incident to see if there was any criminal wrongdoing,” the SAPD said.
The SAPD has announced that the investigation remains active.
