Texas Man Arrested for Molesting Minor; Claimed to Investigators that Teen Initiated Inappropriate Acts

Honk News (San Angelo, TX) – Court documents from Tom Green County reveal that a San Angelo resident was taken into custody for the alleged sexual assault of a minor in April 2014.

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office records show that 39-year-old Mario Pacheco Jr. was detained at the county detention center on March 16 at 5:29 p.m., facing a single count of aggravated sexual assault of a child. As of the latest update, Pacheco is still held there with a bond set at $25,000.

An affidavit related to the case indicates that the alleged incident occurred around April 15, 2014. It details how an investigator from the San Angelo Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit witnessed a detective’s non-custodial interview with Pacheco.

Through this, the investigator discovered an ongoing probe involving the minor Pacheco allegedly assaulted, as well as another juvenile victim of sexual assault, prompting a forensic interview.

In the forensic interview, the minor accused Pacheco of forcing sexual acts upon them and instructing them to keep it a secret. However, Pacheco denied the accusations in a separate non-custodial interview with the investigator. The investigator was able to pinpoint the location of the alleged offense during this exchange.

The affidavit also notes that, in another non-custodial interview with a different detective, Pacheco claimed the minor initiated sexual advances toward him and carried out sexual acts.
