On Tuesday, September 10, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received information from medical experts about a two-month-old newborn who was experiencing strange medical difficulties. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, along with the Tennessee Department of Children Services, launched an investigation.
During the investigation, it was determined that the two-month-old newborn had sustained major body injuries that were “non-accidental.”
The parents of the victim has been identified as Leah Michell Lee Zicot and Dalton Tyler Bennett.
On September 12, Leah Michell Lee Zicot and Dalton Tyler Bennett, both of 1295 Wimberly Road, were charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. Officers believe the infant was in Zicot and Bennett’s care and custody when the injuries occurred.
Both Zicot and Bennett are being jailed on a $800,000 bond as reported by WBBJ-TV.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office CID is collaborating with the Tennessee Department of Children Services and the 24th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is collaborating with the inquiry.
