Teens Confront Alleged Predator in Southern California, No Legal Action Taken

No charges have been filed against a 46-year-old Riverside County man who was attacked by vigilante teenagers after he reportedly gave a girl naked pictures of himself and attempted to set up a sexual contact with her.

William Vandenbush, a Homeland resident, was not charged by Riverside County District Attorney’s Office prosecutors, who sent the matter to the sheriff’s office for more investigation.

According to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the event happened at Nicolas Road Park in Temecula on November 15 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Deputies were alerted, according to authorities, that the suspect was meeting a kid in the park for “sexual purposes.”

“When deputies arrived at that scene, there were probably 20 other juveniles there,” RCSD Sgt. Diedre Vickers stated.

Deputies arrested the 46-year-old and waited for investigators to arrive at the park, while many of the teenagers had their phones out and were recording the interaction.

“The investigation revealed that Vandenbush sent nude photographs and agreed to meet a minor for sexual purposes,” according to the release details.

At that time, Vandenbush was taken into custody and lodged into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta for delivering harmful material to a kid, contacting a minor for sex, and setting up a meeting with a minor for sex.

The 46-year-old may still be in detention or may have been freed.
