Lee County police said they finally had enough proof to put a couple from San Carlos in jail for years for abusing a teen who was in their care. Together with the U.S. Marshals Service, the deputies arrested the pair and was subsequently charged.
Police say that Dwayne Staron, 44, and Theresa Staron, 54, gave drugs to the teen more than once. They say that Dwayne Staron abused the teen, including sexually, since 2021.
Detectives say that the two people gave drugs to the abuse victim more than once. Detectives didn’t say how they started looking into this case, but they did take the abuse victim out of the home in October 2023. It took them a few months to build a strong case against the couple.
The identity of the victim has been withheld by the authorities. They are both being charged with neglecting their children, and Dwayne Staron is also being charged with lewd and inappropriate behavior.
