Honk News (Cape May County, NJ) – An elementary teacher in New Jersey is facing serious allegations after reportedly having a child with a former student, who was just 13 years old. The situation came to light when the teen’s father observed a striking resemblance between his son and the child on social media, leading to further scrutiny.
A fifth-grade teacher, Laura Caron, faces allegations of sexually assaulting her former student during their time living together from 2016 to 2020, as disclosed by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday.
Caron, 34, initially encountered her victim while teaching him and his brother in fifth grade at Middle Township Elementary School located in southern New Jersey.
The young boy, who came into the world in 2005, and his family maintained a strong bond with their previous educator, permitting their children to enjoy sleepovers at Caron’s residence a few nights each week.

The three siblings resided with Caron from 2016 to 2020, sharing a bedroom throughout that time.
At that time, Caron reportedly engaged in “inappropriate sexual relations” with her former student and subsequently became pregnant. In 2019, she welcomed a new life into the world.
The father of the student highlighted the striking resemblance between Caron’s child, himself, and his son in a Facebook post from December 2024.
The sister of the boy recounted to prosecutors that she recalled falling asleep alongside her brother in their shared room, only to awaken and discover him in Caron’s bed, according to the report.
The unnamed girl alleged that Caron started a sexual relationship with her brother when he was just 11 years old.
Authorities discovered that the sibling of the victim had previously witnessed Caron engaging in a sexual assault on his unconscious brother.
A young man, currently aged between 19 and 20, disclosed to authorities the details of his sexual relationship with Caron, including the fact that he is the father of his former teacher’s child.
The two continued to stay in touch until the Facebook post from his father in December.
Caron was taken into custody at her residence on Wednesday and faces charges including Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
She remains in custody at the Cape May County Correctional Facility without the possibility of bond until her first court appearance, as stated by prosecutors and court documents.
