Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Relations with 17-year-old Student in Santa Ana School; Police Sprang into Action after Reports

A choir director at a high school in Southern California was arrested by law enforcement after allegedly consenting to meet a 17-year-old student for inappropriate activities.

Officers from the Santa Ana Police Department were dispatched to Santa Ana High School on Friday following reports of a student having an inappropriate relationship with a teacher.

The boy, a senior at the school, revealed that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with his choir teacher, 37-year-old Yessenia Navarro Garcia. She has been directing the Vocal Music Program at Santa Ana High School, for approximately six months.

“During the investigation, the victim texted Garcia to meet at a location in Santa Ana, and upon her arrival, she was taken into custody by officers,” the Santa Ana Police Department said. “Garcia admitted to all of the sexual acts that the victim reported.”

Authorities reported that Garcia, who lives in the city of Orange, has been working as a full-time choir teacher for around five years.

A woman has been taken into custody at the Santa Ana Jail facing multiple charges related to sexual assault, with her bail established at $100,000.
