A former substitute teacher in Bedford, New Hampshire, has been apprehended and accused of possessing child sex abuse images.
Jonathan Harrison, 31, was apprehended by Concord police on Monday following an extensive investigation. He now faces three charges related to the possession of child sex abuse images.
According to police, a messaging app reported in February about a potential case involving the sharing of child sex abuse images. According to authorities, the investigation pointed to an IP address located at a residence in Concord, where Harrison resides.
Authorities have discovered that Harrison was employed as a camp counselor in Maine, according to police reports. Harrison was questioned by Concord and Maine State Police at the camp. Eventually, he admitted to downloading the images, according to the police.
“It’s not like the old days. We had hard images,” said Concord Deputy Chief John Thomas. “This is all data that’s gone through the computers. And because of the way the technology is, it just makes it so much easier for these crimes to take place.”
The Bedford School District has confirmed that Harrison was a substitute teacher in the district. However, at the time when police notified the district of the investigation in August, he was not actively working in a school.
Harrison has been placed on unpaid leave and will not be returning to work in the district, according to school officials.
