Honk News (Florence, SC) – A 23-year-old man from South Carolina was taken into custody on Friday in Naugatuck for allegedly enticing and promoting a 13-year-old girl from the area, as reported by police.
In November, authorities learned about a relationship that had been ongoing for several months involving an adult male and a 13-year-old girl. They received information about the sharing of explicit photographs and sexual conversations through electronic devices and social media.
Matheus Gokey from Florence, South Carolina has been named as the suspect, who employed grooming tactics to exert control over the victim. A man surrendered to the Naugatuck police on Friday and faced charges for promoting a minor in an obscene performance, enticing a minor through a computer, and risking injury to a child.
He was detained with a bond set at $200,000.

Recently, a married mother of two faces 80 charges related to child offenses, with 30 of those being for statutory rape.
Sara Jean Sellers, 44, from Shallotte, North Carolina, was taken into custody by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Crimes Unit on Friday, February 14, as stated in a news release from that day.
Sellers faces 80 charges related to sexual offenses against children. This includes 20 counts of statutory rape involving a child aged 15 or younger and 10 counts of statutory rape by an adult.
She faces additional charges including 20 counts of statutory sex offense involving a child under 15, 10 counts of statutory sex offense by an adult against a child, and 20 counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
