Severe Storms, Baseball-Sized Hail, and Tornadoes Possible across Texas This Week

Severe storms with baseball-sized hail, severe winds, and isolated tornadoes are expected this week in Texas, including Midland-Odessa, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Lubbock.

Severe weather is expected to persist from Tuesday through at least Friday, with storms moving eastward throughout the state.

According to local and National Weather Service projections, the danger will likely fluctuate by location throughout the week, with different places experiencing higher possibilities on different days.

Midland’s National Weather Service office reports a medium danger of severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening, particularly across the Western Low Rolling Plains and Permian Basin. Any severe storm might produce big hail, devastating winds, and isolated tornadoes.

The unstable weather pattern in North Texas will last until the end of the week, with scattered showers and storms every day, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. While a few storms may be strong or marginally severe, the overall chance of widespread severe weather is low. Storm chances will progressively drop over the weekend, but will climb again early next week.

Tornado watch: Tornadoes are possible, so residents should be prepared.

Tornado warning: Tornadoes have been sighted or indicated on weather radar, and inhabitants should seek cover right away.
