Honk News (New York City, NY) – Numerous educators in New York City are facing allegations of engaging in inappropriate and often sexual interactions with students. Reports indicate that some have solicited nude photographs or attempted to entice students with money, gifts, or drugs, according to recently disclosed documents.
The city’s Special Commissioner of Investigation has confirmed an additional thirty-two instances of inappropriate interactions between educators and school staff with students, raising the overall count to a minimum of 121 cases from 2018 to 2024. This marks an increase from the 89 cases reported in May, as detailed in the documents.
Special Commissioner Anastasia Coleman has advised on 54 occasions between 2019 and 2023 that the city Department of Education should prevent all employees from reaching out to students through personal cell phone numbers, social media platforms, or other applications.

The DOE has consistently dismissed the suggestion, yet informed The Post that it might soon impose stricter regulations.
- Investigators discovered that Daniel Matuk allegedly started corresponding with one of his 15-year-old graphic design student at Queens’ William Cullen Bryant High School in 2020. Between 2022 and 2023, the two exchanged more than 700 communications.
- Investigators discovered that Anthony Schiliro, a history teacher at Manhattan’s prestigious Eleanor Roosevelt High School, sent three female students “excessive” late-night texts. He once made fun of a student who had sex in front of the other two.
- Beginning when she was a freshman, Jorge Luna, a social studies teacher at the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics, called and texted a female student numerous times. Even after receiving disciplinary action for his interactions with her, he continued to post offensive remarks on her Instagram.
- Investigators discovered that when the student was 15, Steven Perez, a social studies teacher at Brooklyn’s Fort Hamilton High School, texted her about his “girlfriend problems” and child support, describing her as “sweety” and “beautiful.”
