After a few days of dry weather over the ArkLaTex, the threat of a few scattered showers and thunderstorms returns on Wednesday. The good news is that severe weather is unlikely.
Clouds will increase over the area on Tuesday night, with mostly dry conditions. Expect largely cloudy skies on Wednesday. The forecast continues to indicate scattered showers and thunderstorms moving across the area in the afternoon. It appears like rain will be more prevalent in the southern part of the area.
This rain will leave the area Wednesday evening, and additional scattered showers and thunderstorms will form further north before dissipating Wednesday night. The possibility of isolated storms is likely to persist into Friday. While we may see a few intense storms during this time, it is unlikely that many, if any, will approach severe intensity.
Given the scattered character of the forecast rainfall, we should expect significant changes in rainfall totals from now until Wednesday night. The forecast indicates that most locations will have less than ¼”. We’ll have pockets that hold ½” to 1″. The northern side of the area may see the heaviest rainfall totals of more than one inch.
Wednesday’s temperatures will be lower due to clouds and showers. Wednesday morning lows will be in the low to mid-60s. Daytime temperatures will most likely struggle to reach the upper 70s to lower 80s, which is typical for this time of year.
