Parents Beat 8-year-old Son to Death in Michigan; Arrested after Dead Son was Brought to Hospital

Authorities have charged two parents in Detroit with the tragic death of their 8-year-old son, who was reportedly beaten early Friday morning.

First responders were summoned to a residence on Clairmont Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, according to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. Emergency responders arrived and took the child to a nearby hospital, where he was declared deceased.

The cause of death has been identified as “multiple blunt force trauma to the head,” according to a statement from Worthy. The individuals facing accusations in connection with the boy’s death are his parents, Jamarr Hill, 37, and Kentoria Latricia Moss, 31, residents of Detroit.

Worthy announced that more facts and evidence will be submitted in court.

“The alleged facts in this case are chilling. The defendants in this case worked in tandem to beat and eventually kill this poor child — two adults against an 8-year-old,” Worthy said. “Little Adren had zero chance of surviving.”

Hill is confronted with serious charges, including felony murder and first-degree child abuse. Moss is charged with second-degree murder and providing false information to a law enforcement officer during a violent crime inquiry. If found guilty of the murder charges against them, both individuals may face a life sentence behind bars. Hill would face a life sentence without the chance for release, while Moss would have the opportunity for parole.

On Tuesday, the duo appeared in the 36th District Court in Detroit. According to online court records, both suspects remained silent, and the court entered not-guilty pleas for them. Hill has been taken into custody, while bond for Moss has been established at $500,000, according to Worthy.
