Ohio Teens Forced Woman to Strip Her Clothes on Road after Attack which Left Her Critically Injured; Rescued after Bystander Called 911

Honk News (Akron, OK) – Authorities in Ohio are on the lookout for individuals involved in the assault of a 19-year-old woman who was left without her clothing during an incident last month.

In a statement, the Akron Police Department in Ohio reported that officers were dispatched to investigate an assault involving a 19-year-old woman, who has not been named, on Beardsley Street, situated about 42 miles south of Cleveland, on Friday, Dec. 27.

A young woman reported to authorities that she was “repeatedly assaulted” and “forced to remove her clothing” by “at least three teens” in the basement of a residence on the same street. Authorities claimed that she “sustained numerous injuries to her head, face, and body” during the “incident.”

Authorities further claimed that at a certain moment following the attack, she was compelled to exit the home in a state of partial undress and proceeded to walk several blocks before a passerby contacted emergency services to report the situation.

Michael Miller of the Akron Police Department reported that the girl was lured to the residence by individuals she believed were friends, but upon her arrival, she was assaulted.

“It is very humiliating, very traumatizing we imagine, for this young woman, this victim. Very disappointing too that the people involved would commit this crime,” Miller said, per WOIO-TV.

He shared with the outlet that the 19-year-old managed to break free and fled the house in search of assistance on the street, completely unclothed — a situation Miller characterized as “humiliating.”

A call from an Akron Police dispatcher, acquired by WOIO-TV, revealed that a good Samaritan reported discovering a young girl walking without clothes. The girl reportedly informed them that someone had “jumped her and robbed her.”

“Thank God we have a community out there and people that care enough to step in and give some aid and help,” Miller told WOIO-TV.

An 18-year-old named Kendell Worthy has been taken into custody facing charges related to kidnapping, robbery, and assault linked to the incident.

Authorities indicated that efforts are ongoing to capture the two additional suspects, aged 13 and 14, connected to the incident. Miller informed WOIO-TV that there could potentially be additional individuals connected to the incident.

“This may not even, in fact, be limited to just three people that participated in the assault,” he said. “There may have been some other people with knowledge or perspective that the detectives may want to talked to. We want to hold, in the end, any and everyone responsible.”

Worthy’s bond has been established at $100,000.
