Ohio Teacher Arrested after Student Claimed He Molested Them; Search Warrant Also Executed by Authorities

Honk News (Preble County, OH) –  A teacher has been taken into custody and faces charges following accusations of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student, as reported by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities report that an inquiry was initiated on Friday, February 7, following a student’s disclosure at a school within the Twin Valley Community Schools district regarding her relationship with a teacher that started in September 2024. Law enforcement reports that the relationship turned sexual in October 2024, when the student was 17 years old.

Deputies report that during their investigation, the 18-year-old student and the teacher were seen together at multiple locations, including within the school premises.

Authorities report that they obtained an arrest warrant for the educator, named Garret Stringer-Smith, aged 31, at his residence in Englewood, where he was apprehended.

Authorities have secured a search warrant for his residence, leading to the confiscation of various items pertinent to the investigation, though they have not revealed the specifics of what was taken.

Stringer-Smith faces two charges of sexual battery. He is currently held at the Preble County Jail, pending arraignment.

Preble County deputies report that investigators have found no evidence suggesting the existence of any additional victims. Officials report that Twin Valley Community Schools is completely cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
