Honk News (Brunswick County, NC) – A married mother of two has been charged with 80 child offenses, including 30 for statutory rape.
Sara Jean Sellers, 44, of Shallotte, North Carolina, was arrested by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office’s (BCSO) Special Crimes Unit on Friday, February 14, according to a news release issued that day.
Sellers was charged with 80 counts of sexual offenses against children, including 20 counts of statutory rape of a child aged 15 or younger and 10 instances of statutory rape by an adult.
According to the news release, she was additionally charged with 20 counts of statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15, 10 counts of statutory sex offense with a kid by an adult, and 20 counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
According to local broadcaster WWAY, Sellers’ alleged victims number at least four, but investigators have not provided an exact number.

During Sellers’ initial court appearance on Feb. 14, the state revealed that all of her alleged victims are boys, two of whom were 12 at the time of the alleged sex crimes, which occurred between 2018 and 2019, and two others whose ages were not mentioned, according to WWAY. According to the article, the latter two victims are presently being interviewed by authorities.
Police also hinted that there could be more victims than are now known, urging anybody else “who may have been victimized” by Sellers — or who knows anything else about her alleged crimes — to come forward.

Also in court on February 14, the defense revealed that Sellers has two daughters and has been married for 22 years.
The investigation into Sellers’ alleged offenses is ongoing, and she is now being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $2 million bond.
