North Carolina Aunt Arrested after Niece found Unresponsive in Residence; Slapped with Charges with after Girl Died from Injuries

This week, Vanity Rubystine Williams, 31, faced charges in Cabarrus County for first-degree murder and felony child abuse, as reported by the Kannapolis Police Department.

Late Tuesday night, authorities responded to a report regarding the girl’s death in the 1600 block of Old Rivers Road.

Stormy had been living with her aunt, Williams, since October.

Following the initial autopsy, just two days later, Williams faced charges of first-degree murder in connection with her niece’s death. According to Stormy’s family, her death was caused by blunt-force trauma.

The announcement shattered the little girl’s family. Tia Sanders, her grandmother, expressed her deep sorrow over not being able to witness her granddaughter’s growth.

“I’m coping but it’s hurting so bad that it’s not even words that can describe the fact that I will never get to see my granddaughter get to kindergarten,” Sanders said. “I won’t get to see her have another birthday. I won’t get to see her do anything else, hear her laugh, hear her joke … nothing.”

Williams has been taken into custody and is currently held without bond on the murder charge. Her court appearance is set for Monday.
