Couple in New York faces charges after baby discovered unresponsive at motel in Springfield Township
A father and his girlfriend have been taken into custody and face charges related to child abuse following the discovery of an unresponsive infant at a Red Roof Inn in Springfield Township, as reported by Beacon Journal partner News 5 Cleveland.
Authorities responded to the motel located at 2939 S. Arlington Rd around 9:30 p.m. on Friday following reports of an unresponsive 1-year-old girl. When they arrived, officers discovered the child lying on the bed and unresponsive.
Authorities provided immediate assistance, and the child became alert again. A child showed indications of mistreatment, with visible bruises, and was discovered in a severe state, as reported by News 5. She was taken to a nearby hospital.
A 37-year-old man and his 35-year-old partner from New York have been taken into custody and face charges related to child endangerment and obstructing official duties, according to reports from News 5. The father faces charges of felonious assault, while the girlfriend has been charged with forgery.
Reports indicate that both individuals are set to be arraigned on Monday at Akron Municipal Court.
Both individuals are currently in custody at the Summit County Jail. Authorities are actively pursuing inquiries into this matter.
