A Plattsmouth man is facing a series of sex-related crimes after a 19-year-old told police about mistreatment she had received, court records show.
On Monday morning, police detained 41-year-old Mathew Kocken. He is being jailed on a number of allegations, including first-degree sexual assault of a kid, pandering, and child abuse. Kochen is facing a total of nine accusations.
On May 28, officers were summoned to a Plattsmouth home to investigate abuse complaints. Kochen was arrested on an outstanding warrant, and an 18-year-old girl living in the house spoke with an officer.
According to an arrest affidavit, she alleged a pattern of sexual assault at the hands of Kochen that began in 2020, when she was 15 years old. Officers then launched a deeper probe into Kochen.
According to the complaint, after serving search warrants on Google and Facebook, investigators discovered many photographs of Kochen sexually abusing the youngster. Officers say the photographs were exchanged with two persons on Facebook in May.
According to the affidavit, Kochen sent the images to one individual and offered to have sex with the girl for $300. The youngster was viewed these texts on August 1, and she verified that the images were taken and transmitted without her permission.
She also told authorities that Kochen had coerced her into having sex with another man, but it is unclear whether Kochen was paid by the man, according to officers.
According to the affidavit, about two weeks later, the girl told investigators about the sexual abuse Kochen had subjected her to. Police believe Kochen began grooming the victim when she was 15 years old and assaulted her shortly after. Police stated the alleged abuse continued for another four years.
On August 20, Kochen was issued an arrest warrant in two distinct cases involving the girl’s alleged mistreatment. He was brought into arrest on Monday.
According to jail records, his bond is 10% of $100,000. His initial court hearings are still to be arranged.
