A mother in Hillsborough County is charged with child abuse following the hospitalization of her 18-month-old child.
On September 15, deputies arrived at Brandon Regional Hospital to investigate an 18-month-old with injuries to the face, neck, and arm, along with bruising behind the ear and on the right thigh.
Following an investigation, detectives reported that 27-year-old Alexis Hardacre, the baby’s mother, violently slammed her child into a crib and restrained him with undue force.
“The suspect admitted to causing the injuries, stating that she lost patience when the baby refused to sleep during nap time,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Haracre was taken into custody on November 18 and faces a charge of child abuse.
“This case is gut-wrenching. No child should ever endure the pain and suffering inflicted on this innocent baby,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We will always protect the most vulnerable members of our community and ensure those who harm them are held accountable.”
