Sadiyah Mone Vaughan, 27, from Great Mills, has been taken into custody and faces charges of second-degree child abuse and second-degree assault following an incident involving her 11-year-old daughter.
Court documents reveal that the event took place at their residence on Foxchase Drive and was classified as a domestic disturbance.
Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene following the report at approximately 1:00 PM. Upon arrival, officers found the 11-year-old victim exiting the apartment, pressing a bloodied cloth to her face. A young girl was found with blood smeared across her pants, shirt, face, hands, and arms. She informed the authorities that the conflict began when Vaughan expressed frustration over the untidiness of the apartment.
The victim reported that she went to her room and started crying after her mother confronted her. Vaughan reportedly pursued the victim into her bedroom and began shouting at her. The incident intensified as Vaughan allegedly shoved the child in the chest and struck her in the face with a closed fist, resulting in a significant nosebleed. The victim alleged that Vaughan hit her in the arm and stomach.
