Mother Left 5-year-old Son in Park as Punishment for His Bad Behaviour; Arrested after Witness Called Police in Florida

Honk News (Miami Beach, FL) – Miami Beach police arrested a 20-year-old Florida woman, Alize Angel Rodriguez, after her 5-year-old son was found wandering alone in a park. Witnesses reported seeing the child unattended for approximately 20 minutes before Rodriguez allegedly fled the scene.

According to an arrest report obtained by WPLG, the child told officers that his mother often left him at the park as punishment for misbehaving. Witnesses corroborated the child’s account, claiming they saw Rodriguez leave the park in a gray Toyota with a man, abandoning her son.

Police said witnesses also observed Rodriguez behaving erratically before leaving the park. A bystander saw her walking along Meridian Avenue, where she reportedly discarded her purse into a bush. Upon searching the bag, officers found marijuana, Xanax, and other pills, according to authorities.

Rodriguez was located and taken into custody hours later. She denied being under the influence, but police charged her with felony child neglect without great bodily harm and possession of a controlled substance. Additionally, she was charged with a misdemeanor for possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of the child, as well as Rodriguez’s behavior leading up to her arrest.
