Mother Beat Teen Son to Death using Extension Cord; Facing Charges as She Beat Teen for Non-Stop One Hour in Washington

Seattle, WA (Honk News) A Seattle mother faces serious allegations after reportedly fatally assaulting her son with an extension cord, allegedly declaring it was “butt-cutting time” when he did not complete his chores, according to police.

“(The boy) did not complete his chores and she was angry,” the arrest report, which was first obtained by the local ABC affiliate KOMO, reads. The mom, who has not been charged yet or named publicly, allegedly “ordered” the 14-year-old to remove his clothing as she retrieved an extension cord and prepared to punish him for not finishing the tasks he was given on Thursday afternoon, the Seattle Police Department reports.

“(The mother) told him it was butt-cutting time,” authorities allege. “She shoved him against the wall, causing him to strike head, go limp and fall to the floor.”

Police reported that the teenager was instructed to stand, and he followed the command.

“(The mom) continued to beat (her son) for approximately an hour,” the report states.

A 29-year-old woman is accused of striking her child with an extension cord, leading to the child becoming unresponsive, according to police reports. After approximately five minutes of waiting to see if he would regain consciousness, she contacted emergency services to report the incident, as stated by law enforcement.

On Thursday at 2:17 pm, officers arrived at the 4000 block of 14th Avenue South and discovered the victim with “multiple injuries,” as stated in a press release from the Seattle Police. Emergency responders from the Seattle Fire Department quickly arrived at the location and administered medical assistance to the boy, who was then taken to a nearby medical facility in critical condition.

“Despite all life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased,” police officials said in the Jan. 30 release. “The victim’s 29-year-old mother was arrested for investigation of homicide.”

The mother of the boy declined to exit jail for her initial court appearance on Friday afternoon. The woman’s bail has been established at $3 million following her public defender’s efforts to secure her release, even though she failed to appear.

“I know of the seriousness of these facts, but this also involves a mother losing her son and significant trauma she is experiencing from that,” attorney Zelena Jones told Judge Jill Klinge, per KOMO. “I’d also argue there would be additional trauma on top of that if she is incarcerated. Given her limited history, the fact it appears she cooperated with law enforcement, and the fact that she has very limited resources, she should be released.”

Authorities anticipate that the mother will face charges and be publicly named by Tuesday. She is currently in custody at the King County Jail located in downtown Seattle.
