A former high school teacher in Pulaski County has admitted to engaging in sexual contact with a student.
Former Laquey High School teacher Hailey Clifton-Carmack is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, October 11th at 11 a.m. She faced multiple charges related to child endangerment, statutory rape, sexual contact with a student, child molestation, and furnishing pornographic material to a minor.
In previous reporting, court documents revealed that a student had reported a sexual relationship with Clifton-Carmack to officials. According to court documents, Clifton-Carmack had previously faced issues with school administration due to concerns about their behavior towards students.
During the investigation, the witness overheard a phone conversation involving Clifton-Carmack and the youth. As part of their search, the police examined Clifton-Carmack’s phone and discovered conversations between her and the victim.
According to a statement, another witness came forward on Wednesday and informed law enforcement that the victim’s father was aware of the “relationship.”
According to the statement, the father informed the witness that students were assigned the role of “lookouts” while the teacher and victim engaged in sexual activity at school. The father also mentioned that Clifton-Carmack had been at their residence before leaving for Texas.
Clifton-Carmack escaped to Texas, was apprehended, and subsequently returned to Missouri. According to previous reports, Clifton-Carmack’s employment with the school ended on Dec. 8.
