Missouri Coach was Dating 17-year-old Student; Sentenced after Inappropriate Relations got Revealed to Authorities

Honk News (Springfield, MO) – A veteran soccer coach from Willard High School is set to receive sentencing in May, following the emergence of allegations regarding an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student five years ago.

Timothy Glyn Magee, 54, with a current address in Willard, entered a guilty plea on January 24 to three charges of statutory sodomy.

Sentencing is anticipated on May 16 in Judge Jerry Harmison’s courtroom. He could be looking at a fine and potential incarceration.

Magee faced arrest in August 2020, resulting in his dismissal from coaching and subsequent charges. Following the allegations from a former student, he was first put on administrative leave.

Court documents reveal that the victim informed Willard police about her initial encounter with Magee in the spring of 2008 while she was part of the high school soccer team, leading to a series of text messages and phone calls between them.

During the months of August and September in 2009, it is reported that the student visited Magee’s residence several times on Saturday mornings while his spouse was at work, and they engaged in sexual activities together.

The individual was under the age of 17 at the time and was not legally permitted to agree to sexual activities with an adult. At that moment, Magee was over twice her age.

Magee was previously employed by Springfield Public Schools prior to his hiring in Willard. He served as a special education teacher at Weller Elementary during the 2002-03 school year and at Hillcrest High School from 2003 to 2005. During the 2004-05 season, he took on the role of soccer coach at Hillcrest.
