Michigan Woman Strapped 4-year-old to Stroller and Bounded Disabled Sister using Duct Tape and Left them to Spend Night Outside: Authorities

A 31-year-old woman from Waterford faces allegations of restraining her 4-year-old daughter and disabled sister, leaving them unattended overnight.

Brittany Indonesia Ivory faces two charges of unlawful imprisonment, along with one charge each for second-degree child abuse and third-degree vulnerable adult abuse.

On September 21, law enforcement arrived at a residence in Waterford and discovered Ivory’s 32-year-old sister, who has developmental disabilities, restrained with duct tape in the backyard, while Ivory’s 4-year-old daughter was secured in a stroller inside a bedroom.

Authorities report that Ivory serves as her sister’s caretaker and is accused of restraining the victims the previous night before leaving the home.

Ivory’s sister and daughter were transported to a local hospital for care. Ivory has been taken into custody and is currently at the Oakland County Jail.

“Caretakers are entrusted to support and protect the safety of individuals in their care,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “To use your position of trust to abuse another individual, in this case, a child and a vulnerable adult, is abhorrent. Everyone deserves dignity, respect and to feel secure. My office is committed to holding those who threaten to violate this trust accountable and securing justice for the victims.”

Ivory appeared in court on Tuesday and was given a bond set at $10,000. She will return to court for a probable cause conference on October 1.
