Honk News (Farmington, MI) – A former youth hockey doctor, facing disgrace, entered a no-contest plea to 28 counts of criminal sexual conduct on Tuesday.
Doctor Zvi Levran could be sentenced to 15 years to life behind bars following allegations of sexual abuse involving young hockey players over a span of two decades. Sentencing is set for April 29 at the Oakland County Circuit Court.
Levran, 68, hailing from Farmington, has entered a plea regarding multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct across second, third, and fourth degrees, in addition to two counts related to child sexually abusive material and two counts concerning child sexual abusive activism.
Each count of Criminal Sexual Assault in the Third Degree, the most serious charge in this case, carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years behind bars.
Levran, a urologist, previously provided medical support to athletic teams in Michigan and Minnesota. Allegations have emerged against him, with players claiming instances of sexual assault occurring during medical examinations at Levran’s residence.
“This guilty plea holds Zvi Levran accountable for his crimes and provides justice for his victims,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “Today’s outcome ensures Levran’s victims will not be re-traumatized by the burden of testifying at trial. It also spares them any further uncertainty about the outcome of this case. The victims were heard, and their stories were believed. Zvi Levran is guilty.”
Dr. Levran has dedicated 25 years to specializing in urology and diverse aspects of sexual health, as highlighted on his official webpage.
He has been affectionately dubbed ‘Hockey Doc’ due to his dedicated service with local youth teams in the Metro Detroit area for the last twenty years.
A dedicated tip line was established for survivors by the Farmington Hills police, prompting calls from residents in Farmington Hills, Novi, West Bloomfield, and Redford during the investigation.
